December Forget-Me-Nots

December Forget-Me-Nots

Today, I’m sharing a family journal post so we can one day look back and remember these days…. ♥ Our baby beta fish just died. Bebe expressed her sadness and disappointment on the loss of a friend, shortly thereafter she says: “I have a GREAT idea, Mommy! We can cook the beta fish and eat it for dinner. Although the fish was about an inch long and wouldn’t provide meaningful sustenance for a meal, that’s besides the...

Halloween Crafts 2013

Halloween Crafts 2013

Halloween crafts is one of our favorite past-times lately. We started out by making a ghost footprints. It’s been almost three years since we took footprints of Bebe E so it was bittersweet to see how big her feet have grown.  Anytime Bebe makes a “scary face” she draws an unhappy face, therefore, you will notice this “scary look” throughout her Halloween artwork. Pretty cute, I must say! Since earlier in the...

Crab Fishing, Catch 2012 vs. 2013

Crab Fishing, Catch 2012 vs. 2013

My husband’s good friend takes us crab fishing at least once a year, and it’s such a treat, especially for the kiddo. It’s easy for us because we just show-up, but our friend hauls these big round (and somewhat odiferous) fishing nets and brings along interesting bait. Last year he brought a scary fish head and some chicken which the crabs seemed to like quite a bit. This year he brought along chicken and salmon collars, and...

Sea Animal Friends; Crafting not for Eating

Sea Animal Friends; Crafting not for Eating

Given that I haven’t been cooking anything new to post lately, I thought I would start sharing some of the crafts that we do at home. One of Bebe’s favorite indoor activities to do at home is, you guessed it, crafts. Playing make-believe probably comes second, followed by homemade activity boxes which I will explain further in another post. Last month, we had her cousins over for a swim, but I planned a non-water craft that I left...

Little Tokyo & Marugame Monzo Restaurant

Little Tokyo & Marugame Monzo Restaurant

It’s no secret that I’ve been having a difficult time creating regular posts for my blog. I’d like to blame my absence on a recent heat wave in our neck of the woods which completely turned me off from cooking and going anywhere near the stove. Unfortunately, I can’t get away with eating out every night for two weeks straight so I’ve resorted to what I refer to as lazy cooking. I mainly rely on cooking somen...

OCBC Obon 2013

OCBC Obon 2013

It only feels like summer once Obon season starts. And, it’s started! This year, all of the obon festivals are being held earlier than usual, but we’re not complaining. We already went to our first obon for the season at the Orange County Buddhist Temple, even before the end of June, and that almost never happens. Usually, July is when obon season is in full swing. Read more about the obon festival in my 2012  and...

First Dance Recital

First Dance Recital

Bebe recently had her first dance recital. She looked as though she was having so much fun on the big stage with her beaming smile. She did a fabulous job remembering her routine to “Big Rock Candy Mountain” and we really loved the big kisses she blew to all of us at the end of her performance. Even though she couldn’t see us in the darkened audience, she knew we were watching her and cheering her on. We’re so proud of...
